Dairy Australia - Dairy information for Australian Dairy Farmers and the industry

Primary content

DairyNSW supports the profitability of farms, the capability of dairy farmers and on-farm staff, and the performance and protection of dairy herds.

New South Wales

The New South Wales dairy region accounts for around 8% of national milk production. Farmers in NSW generally focus on drinking milk and fresh products, and manage calving/feeding systems to ensure year round production.

  • In 2016/17 NSW produced around 794 million litres of milk
  • This represents approximately 9% of national milk output.

What is Dairy NSW?

Dairy NSW is a Regional Development Program (RDP) set up by Dairy Australia in 1996. Dairy NSW drives regional-specific R, D & E by using local knowledge and skills. Four dairy farmers and four skilled industry stakeholders make up the Dairy NSW Board. A Regional Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day operations and supervising extension staff in the region.

“Dairy NSW takes the information and projects developed by Dairy Australia using the levy, and delivers them on-farm to benefit the NSW dairy industry.”
- Simon Bateman, dairy farmer, Numbugga NSW
