Aiming to grow our industry in NSW, Project 20:20 works with five feature farms to develop their unique business management plans and share the learning through our region.

The business plans are developed across the following topic areas:

  • Farm business management
  • Feedbase and animal nutrition
  • Land, water and carbon
  • People management, and
  • Animal performance

Project 20:20 locations

Feature farms were selected from across our state’s key dairying regions and include farms in these locations:

  • Kyogle - Tony and Jillian Wilson
  • Cowra - Colin and Erina Thompson
  • Burrawang - Grant and Jane Sherborne
  • Stewarts River - Tim and Julie Bale
  • Finley - Neville and Ruth Kydd

How do dairy farmers manage their unique environments, people, animals, infrastructure and businesses? In this five part series, we go behind the farm gate to reveal how our feature farms have made their operations more productive, professional and profitable.

Episode #1 – Farm business management 

Generational expansion, managing risk and being pro-active in tough times

Project 20:20 Field Walk Resources

A series of field walks were held at each focus farm, providing the opportunity for farmers and industry stakeholders to learn in a practical, on farm environment about the innovation and advancement displayed by each farm. Our Farm, Our Plan is a new program designed to equip farmers to clarify their long term goals, identify the actions needed and to manage uncertainty and risk.

Hay and grain reports

The hay and grain report is commissioned by Dairy Australia to provide an independent and timely assessment of hay and grain markets in each dairying region. The report is updated 40 weeks per year.
