The NSW Young Dairy Network helps its members develop dairy farm knowledge and skills, provides leadership opportunities and connects a network of young people across NSW and Australia-wide.

NSW Young Dairy Network

Opportunities for farmers and service providers aged 18-40

The NSW Young Dairy Network (YDN) is an initiative for young people who are:

  • New to dairying
  • New to the dairy industry
  • Local farmers 
  • Local dairy service providers, and
  • People who want to develop both professionally and personally while building a social network.

A key purpose of the YDN is to connect farmers and industry professionals with young farmers and service providers through networking. Networking is an important pathway for young dairy stakeholders to grow their capacity and ability to perform in the Australian dairy industry.

Our service is led by four regional YDN coordinators across four network regions. Complete this quick application form and your regional YDN coordinator will be in contact shortly:

Activities are delivered by coordinators in tandem with NSW Regional Dairy Groups (RDG) and Dairy NSW and include:

  • Study tours
  • Farm walks
  • Training, discussion groups and workshops
  • Event management experience delivering industry events
  • Networking connections with DairyNSW and other governing bodies
  • Bursaries for those who are participating in industry leadership activities

Young Farming Champions

Young Farming Champions (YFC) are youth ambassadors and future influencers working within the agriculture sector. The YFC promote positive images and perceptions of farming and engage in activities and innovative programs under the Art4Agriculture project.

Nuffield Scholarship 

The Nuffield Australia Farming Scholarship program is the leading program for primary producers in Australia and is unique in our industry. For over 60 years, Nuffield has awarded primary producers with a life-changing opportunity to travel overseas and study an agricultural topic of choice. 

Scholarship winners are selected annually on merit as people who are committed and passionate about farming or fishing, interested in leading edge industry technology and, potential future leaders in the industry.

Royal Agricultural Society Youth Group 

The Royal Agricultural Society Youth Group (RAS) are passionate young professionals that aim to educate, entertain and engage youth through RAS programs, events and competitions. The aim for for young people to build professional networks and understanding of the agricultural industry.

NSW Young Farmers Council 

NSW Young Farmers Council is the youth branch of NSW Farmers - a volunteer organisation furthering the interests of farmers and rural communities in NSW.

If you are under 35 and a farmer you are invited to participate in a wide range of activities. NSW Young Farmers will help you meet other young farmers, learn how advocacy works, shape the future of agriculture, explore alternative ways of getting on the land, get involved in state, national and global conferences and more.

Our Farm, Our Plan

Our Farm, Our Plan is a new program designed to equip farmers to clarify their long term goals, identify the actions needed and to manage uncertainty and risk.

Hay and grain reports

The hay and grain report is commissioned by Dairy Australia to provide an independent and timely assessment of hay and grain markets in each dairying region. The report is updated 40 weeks per year.
