The vision of the National Dairy Industry Animal Welfare Strategy is that every dairy animal is well cared for.

Over many years the Australia dairy industry has demonstrated an openness to change and a willingness to make improvements in on-farm practices.

Looking after all animals in our care is our responsibility and it is essential for a successful dairy farm.

Practical examples for the strategy are included in this 'Caring for our cows' booklet. To deliver safe, quality dairy products, dairy farmers must keep their animals in peak condition. Good husbandry practices are integral to the day-to-day care of our cows. To ensure the welfare of the herd, cows should be checked daily.Everyday practices on the farm, such as checking cows daily, help to ensure good animal welfare. This booklet demonstrates the industry'™s commitment to ensuring every dairy animal is well cared for. 


Dairy biosecurity

Dairy biosecurity is vital for protecting your farm. Dairy farmers and their advisors now have access to a new online biosecurity tool to build their skills and adapt their management approach to biosecurity risks.

Hay and grain reports

The hay and grain report is commissioned by Dairy Australia to provide an independent and timely assessment of hay and grain markets in each dairying region. The report is updated 40 weeks per year.
