Countdown Project Leader, Mark Humphris introduces Dairy Australia's new online resource to help service providers have meaningful conversations with farmers about dry cow management.

This is a session is designed for dairy veterinarians and field service providers working with farmers to improve outcomes of the dry period.

Dr Mark Humphris

Mark has been involved in dairying for 30 years, growing up on dairy farms in South Australia and Victoria. He completed his veterinary studies at Murdoch University Veterinary School in Perth, Western Australia. Mark then worked in veterinary practice in Victoria, Scotland, England before joining the Maffra Vet Centre, where he became a partner. During his time at Maffra he was involved in teaching 100 University of Melbourne veterinary students per year. As well working as a cattle veterinarian, he has completed further qualifications through the College of Veterinary Scientists in dairy medicine. He has also delivered many farmer short courses and workshops in mastitis, fertility, lameness, calf health, dairy cow nutrition and transition management and is now Dairy Australia's Countdown Program Leader. He has been Chair of the Macalister Demonstration Farm for 5 years and a director for 10. Mark has a strong focus on disease prevention, education and human resource management in driving change and sustainability on farms.
