Summary

In 2018-19, the data from 20 participating dairy farms in South Australia demonstrated that despite tough seasonal conditions and significantly increased feed costs, positive returns were still achieved. Despite being a high cost year, participants achieved an average EBIT of $243,984, which is 14% above the previous 7 year average, but lower than last year’s $295,330. While average return on total assets declined to 3.5% for 2018–19 (2017-18: 4.3%) it remains above the seven year average of 3.3%.
