Dairy industry scholarships and grants

The dairy industry has a large number of scholarships and grants available for a wide range of people that are working or involved in the industry.

Attend the Australian Dairy Conference

Every year, Murray Dairy Young Dairy Network (YDN) and the Australian Dairy Conference (ADC) offer two young (or emerging) dairy farmers or farm workers from the Murray Dairy region the chance to attend Australia’s leading national dairy event, including $500 towards your travel and/or accommodation expenses. 

The ADC is held in February each year in a different location. Keep an eye on Murray Dairy eNews and YDN Update for information about this opportunity.  


Farm Business Management Scholarships with the Gardiner Dairy Foundation

Each year, the Gardiner Dairy Foundation offers scholarships to dairy farmers across Victoria. Scholarships are allocated by each Regional Development Program in Victoria, with 10 available across the state and four available to Murray Dairy region residents:
  • One Australian Rural Leadership Program (ARLP) scholarship
  • Two Owner Manager Program scholarships from University of Queensland Business School
  • One Rabobank Executive Development Program scholarship

Rural Bank

Rural Bank offers an annual Scholarship Program to first year university undergraduates enrolled in studies that will enable them to contribute to the future of Australian agriculture. There are 15 scholarships available across Australia. The scholarship provides the successful students with funding up to the value of $5,000 to assist with their tertiary studies. 
The funding will support study-related expenses such as accommodation costs, course costs, study materials and equipment, textbooks or tutoring. 

Nuffield Australia Farming Scholarships

The Nuffield Farming scholarship program gives young Australian farmers the opportunity to travel internationally, learning from leading agriculturalists around the world and collecting new experiences along the way. Nuffield Australia awards Scholarships to farmers each year.
There are over three dairy scholarships available:
  • A dairy producer supported by the Australian Dairy Conference and Dairy Australia
  • A dairy producer in Victoria supported by the Gardiner Dairy Foundation
  • A primary producer in Victoria, supported by the William Buckland Foundation

Greenham GOTAFE Dairy Scholarship

The Greenham Dairy Scholarship annual scholarship is awarded for undertaking formal study at a university, college or TAFE focusing on subjects in the dairy sector.

The scholarship is open to immediate family members and employees of anyone who has sold cattle to the Tongala-based meat processing plant of H.W. Greenham & Sons in the preceding 12 months of each scholarship year. People between 17-45 years of age can apply.

Australian Beef Industry Foundation Scholarship

The Australian Beef Industry Foundation together with Fairfax Rural Media (Fairfax) are offering the opportunity for two people involved in the beef supply chain, aged between 21 and 40 to attend a one-week Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership program in Geelong. The scholarship will cover the cost of the program.

Hay and grain reports

The hay and grain report is commissioned by Dairy Australia to provide an independent and timely assessment of hay and grain markets in each dairying region. The report is updated 40 weeks per year.
